Open Hearth summer Camp
The vision of the camp
To fully immerse ourselves in the nature that surrounds us and the nature within us. Nature, the elements (earth, air, fire and water), our senses and our bodies will all be our immersion.
An invitation to simple BE, to drop your to do list and be with the fireHearth, be with good company, be with the wild land, we with music, share our stories and our heart soul’s resonance. We will live simply together, cook on an open fire, gather wood from the forest and spiral into an immersion of how our indigenous ancestors lived. An invitation to remember ourselves as part of the web of life
At the centre of the camp is the hearth, a large communal fire that is always burning with simple seats in a circle around it. This is the heart of our container that supports us to keep coming back to the centre of our community and to our hearts. From here we can venture out into the wild forest and then return back home to the heart and hearth. This pulse is how our ancestors lived and its return is much needed in western civilisation. Its absence in our lives is what many of us are sensing, as we experience feelings of isolation, fear, anxiety, loneliness and separation.
Together, we will keep exploring ways of remembering this pulse that it is still alive in our bones and cells. Through slowing down enough to hear the wisdom of nature and the elements, we will explore how to access sacred knowledge of living in harmony with all life and the ways in which nature can guide us back home to wholeness.
We live on the planet with nearly 7 billion people and as many varied forms of life so finding a way to be in relationship within our own personal journey is essential. We can’t keep hiding away from the world due to overwhelm. We need to find the balance of time alone to come back into ourselves and put our roots ever deeper into the earth and time connect with humanity and the web of life. The camp offers a supportive context to explore the right balance of this for each of us and enable choice from a place of connection to life rather than from fear or overwhelm.
Meals and food
We invite everyone to eat and cook together as this creates the heart of our connection together. We invite everyone to bring raw ingredients to make simple delicious vegan, wheat free meals and together each day we will cook and eat lunch and supper (breakfast is self catering).
There will be all the pots, pans kettles plates, mugs etc provided for the camp and a small fridge for essential to keep cool.
(You are free to add your own additions to your plate once served e.g. cheese or cold meat which has to be organic and ideally locally sourced)
PLEASE NOTE: You can also self cater if you prefer, or if you have a specialised diet. You will still be a part of the community meal times and we will eat all together.
Children are of course welcome. There is no childcare provision offered by us so carers/parents will be asked to take full responsibility for the safety and childcare of their little ones.
No more than 3 children to one adult is permitted. Everyone is welcome no matter where you come from or who you are.
Please note: there are no tickets for work exchnage as we will all be working together to help the camp run smoothly as we go.
